Armen Martirosyan: International experience is applied in Armenia to ensure reproduction of power
It is unacceptable that without considering the opinion of public and political forces on the basic principles of the new Electoral Code, the authorities in Armenia drew up a draft electoral code and even sent its copy to the Venice Commission,” Vice-Chairman of the Heritage party Armen Martirosyan said on March 4. He says the text of the new Electoral Code is actually a step backwards in terms of democracy. “The authorities pretend to be applying the international experience in Armenia but in fact they are trying to reproduce Serzh Sagsyan’s administration by applying several provisions adopted by some federal state,” he said. Armen Martirosyan says he has a good opinion about ARF member Artsvik Minasyan and they are on friendly terms but he [Minasyan] will not be able to implement antimonopoly policy in Armenia. “He is involved in a system where he cannot act independently.”
