Privilege to “Ucom”, universities to remain politicized (video)
At the beginning of today’s Government sitting Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan congratulated the newly appointed Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Levon Yolyan on the occasion of his appointment. Today the newly appointed ministers actively presented the drafts relating to their sectors. The newly appointed Minister of Economy, Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) faction lawmaker Artsvik Minasyan presented a draft, discussion of which was twice postponed during the tenure of the former minister Karen Chshmarityan. The draft related to “Ucom” company, which was given an opportunity to postpone the term of VAT payment for three years, within the frames of which 4G connection must be ensured as well as import of 13.8 billion drams. Artsvik Minasyan assured that the package had been examined at their ministry. The draft was approved. Newly appointed Minister of Science and Education Levon Mkrtchyan presented the draft of the NA “Heritage” faction lawmaker Tevan Poghosyan. The draft proposes to depoliticize the university councils; chairmen and members mustn’t belong to parties. Though the newly appointed minister has always approved this approach, this time the Government proposed to reject by promising to touch upon the draft later. Davit Lokyan, newly appointed Minister of Territorial Administration and Development introduced new governors- Hovsep Simonyan (Shirak marz), Gabriel Gyozalyan (Aragatsotn marz).
