Tigran Urikhanyan to vote against HHK-backed Arman Tatoyan
'Alliance' Centrist Progressive Party will vote against the Republican-backed candidate for the Human Rights Defender (Ombudsperson), this emerged on Monday. Narek Aloyan, a member of the party and a former candidate for the post, today said his party is against the candidate nominated by the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK). In a statement made on February 22, Aloyan said Tigran Urikhanyan, who represents the Alliance Party in the National Assembly, will vote against the HHK candidate [Arman Tatoyan]. Besides, the party's committee on legal affairs will continue its human rights activities and monitor the activities of the Ombudsman and his staff. The ombudsman’s position has been vacant since former Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan unexpectedly resigned in January.
