Vagharshak Harutyunyan: Azerbaijan has no opportunity to start a war against Armenia (video)
A former defense minister of Armenia thinks Azerbaijan will have no opportunity to start a war against Armenia in the near future. “There are numerous reasons for it. First, Azerbaijan has to divide its budget into three parts. Second, the psychological condition of Azerbaijani soldiers is also negative and, finally, Azerbaijan simply wants to create an atmosphere of fear in Armenia in order to escalate the migration,” Vagharshak Harutyunyan told journalists on February 15. Asked what Armenians are supposed to do, the former defense minister said, “Our objective is not to kill 10 Azeri soldiers for every Armenian killed on the frontline, but to show Azerbaijan that it will not achieve anything with its policy. On the other hand, Mr Harutyunyan says a neighbour like Turkey will always be a constant challenge for our country. “We do not have diplomatic relations with Turkey. That country would have a quite different attitude towards Armenia but for the existence of a Russian military base in Armenia,” he said.
