Azat Arshakyan, a former member of Armenia’s Supreme Council, says Serzh Sargsyan’s recent speech was partially addressed to Armenian citizens. “Serzh Sargsyan addressed his speech to the public, saying that there are problems but these problems are not caused by them,” Mr Arshakyan said on Monday. He says there are ‘4D format’ problems in Armenia. “People are leaving Armenia, the industry is dying, and there are numerous social problems. Serzh Sargsyan has another year [until the end of his tenure], if he starts to solve problems, we shall ask him to stay in power and continue his work, otherwise we shall count the days and hours, waiting for the end of his presidency,” Mr Arshakyan said. “Those 4D problems started in 1991 and 1992,” said his Republican opponent Sukias Avetisyan. He says that they have never said that ‘everything is good in the country but the new Constitution will solve these problems.’ Mr Arshakyan says it is necessary to identify people who are responsible for the current state of affairs. “We need to find those who undermine the economy and promote emigration. The power is formed by co-villagers. Armenia is becoming poorer while they are getting richer. They have a list in their hands and they know who stands behind this mess. Let them call those people and punish them,” he said. “In his speech, Serzh Sargsyan called on everyone to speak about concerns and problems and try to find solutions to them,” said the Republican MP.
