Republicans claim victory in local elections

Republican heads of several Armenian communities were re-elected to their posts in Sunday’s local elections. The preliminary figures show that three Republicans were re-elected to their mayoral posts in Tumanyan (Lori Marz), Tatev (Syunik Marz) and Dilijan (Tavoush Marz). Republican Levon Dzavaryan, Head of Tumanyan community, received 1678 votes. A total of 299 people voted against the incumbent mayor. Republican Murad Simonyan was re-elected as Mayor of Tatev community after receiving 1236 votes. Overall, 6797 people cast their votes for Armen Santrosyan, the incumbent mayor of Dilijan community.
