Aghvan Vadanyan: Republicans and Dashnaks are not angels (video)
“You never thank us. You can only write about you day and night. It is not fair,” Aghvan Vadanyan, Secretary of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun, joked during today’s parliamentary briefings before talking to journalists. “You receive portfolios and we have to thank you?” said one of the journalists. Speaking about the prospect of forming a coalition government with the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), Mr Vardanyan said, “During our cooperation, we have something to say to the people. I think our joint work implies mutual consent. No matter what format of cooperation we choose, it would be the best possible option of join work. Despite the numerous attempts to drive a wedge between Dashnaktsutyun and HHK, we say that there is a problem that we must solve together. Whether we like it or not, under the new Constitution decisions will be taken by one party. HHK is not an assembly of angels. Neither is Dashnaktsutyun. Clearly, there are different approaches to many issues, just every political force has its clear axis. Should we not be sure that we were doing the right thing, we would not do it. This is the first but not the last time. This country needs qualitative changes, we will try in that direction,” he said. As for the candidates for the next ombudsman, Mr Vardanyan said he would support Zaruhi Postanjyan if her candidature is put forward at the plenary session of the National Assembly. The Country of Law Party (OEK) also said it would support Postanjyan’s candidacy.
