Armenia has become a member of Eurimages- European Cinema Support Fund, since January 1, 2016. Gevorg Gevorgyan, Director of the National Cinema Center of Armenia, told “A1+” that it is the largest foundation of cinema funding, which has great capabilities to finance and assist its member states in filmmaking process. “There are few capabilities for film industry in our country, and we are always looking for ways of joint productions. Today there are a lot of projects in Armenia, many young people are involved, but our capabilities don’t afford to realize those projects,” he said, According to the words of the Director of the Cinema Center, Armenia tried to become a member of the foundation since 2012, but neither lack of financial means, nor Armenia’s membership to the EEU hindered, “Until now we haven’t felt that it is an obstacle, only we can create obstacles by not having good projects, not presenting them in time, etc.” According to the words of Gevorg Gevorgyan, the Ministry of Culture largely supported Armenia’s membership to Eurimages.
