Public Radio of Armenia to elect Director in an atmosphere of secrecy
The competition for the vacant post of Director of the Public Radio of Armenia is scheduled for February 3 but the candidates are not known yet. One of the candidates for the post, Astghik Avetisyan, says she does not know her contenders. “January 25 was the last date for submitting documents. When I asked the chief of staff about the other candidates, I was told ‘it was confidential information.’ This is a wrong approach. Candidates should know each other,” Astghik Avetisyan told A1+. Nor does she have any information on the order of competition. “I do not know whether the director will be elected by secret ballot or not. But they were to inform candidates about the order at least on the eve of the competition,” she said. She learnt about the date and time of the competition from the website of the Public Radio. We contacted the Public Radio and Armenian Public TV to know more details about the sitting but neither of them could provide us definite information. Both said they were unaware of it though the latter said results of the competition will be available at 3.00p.m. By law, the sittings of the Public radio are open to public and the Council ensures publicity of its activities.
