Armenia didn’t ensure safe and healthy working conditions: report
The European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR) published its annual conclusions for 2015 showing 277 violations of the European Social Charter across 31 Council of Europe member states, including Armenia. The Committee in particular expressed its concern on the rights of refugees, on the notion of light work for children, on the rights of posted workers, on language tests and housing requirements in the context of family reunion, on expulsions in case of threat to national security, or offence against public interest or morality and on remuneration during parental leave. According to the report, Armenia didn’t ensure safe and healthy working conditions, legal, social, and medical assistance. The report says that out of 34 situations 9 are in line with the Social Charter, 18 are not in line, and for other 7 situations the Committee needs further information to examine the situation. Persons between the ages of 14 and 16 may now be involved only in temporary works not causing damage to health, safety, education and morality. To add, Armenia ratified the Charter on 21 January 2004. This report looks at the situation in legislation and practice from 2010 to 2013.
