Jewish people recognize Armenian Genocide, says Karen Hovhannisyan (video)
Holocaust Remembrance Day is observed on January 27. Many decades after the brutal massacre by the Nazis, many believe that humanity has not learnt lessons from it. “The events happening in the Middle East suggest that everything can be repeated,” Karen Hovhannisyan, Deputy Chair of the Jewish community in Armenia, said today. Speaking about the Armenian Genocide and Holocaust, he emphasized international recognition and public awareness. To the question why Israel has not recognized the Armenian Genocide until now, Mr Hovhannisyan said, “If we ask the Jews, we shall see that they all recognize the Armenian Genocide. Unfortunately, public opinion is not always consistent with the state policy. It's just politics.”
