Leaving for Russia for seasonal work becomes meaningless (video)
Economic situation in Russia cannot but affect Armenia. According to the data of 2015, the transfers from Russia to Armenia decreased by 37.2%. The export from Armenia to Russia decreased by 28.1%. Russian investments decreased by 70 %. “The fall of ruble will result in the following that it will become meaningless to leave for Russia for seasonal work, as it will be possible to earn the same amount of money also in Armenia,” says analyst Aleksander Iskandaryan. Armenia mustn’t pin its hopes on transfers and develop its economy based on them. The opposite, according to political expert Levon Shirinyan, Armenia can make use of sanctions against Russia and sanctions implemented by Russia, “It has become character to connect even the amount of cow’s milk with the geopolitical factor. They have found a way to explain that the situation is bad in Russia, the opposite, the market is free now, export, but it turns out that we have nothing to export.” Nevertheless, taking into account good and bad sides of the Russian-Armenian relations, the specialists have come to a conclusion that Armenia must try to reduce dependence on Russia and also work with European markets and investors.
