Armenia may become a transit country: chances from conflict (video)
We shouldn’t see only dangers for Armenia in Iran-Saudi Arabia conflict. Specialist on Iranian Studies Vardan Voskanyan prefers to see the chances, which will be given to our country, “We have a very serious opportunity taking into account the recent agreement between Georgia and Iran- to supply Iranian gas to Georgia and the desire of the Iranian side to implement it exclusively through Armenia and not Azerbaijan, so we can reach our so called dream and become a transit country in terms of gas, though at present only to Georgia,” he announced during the meeting with journalists. Besides, the specialist on the Iranian studies thinks that we have a chance to make use of all the conflicts of the region, in particular, Iran-Turkey and Iran-Azerbaijan. “Iranian and Armenian security systems complement each other in many issues, and threats directed to the security of Iran somehow affect the elements of Armenia’s security. For example, if Saudis begin inciting anti-Iranian actions in the regions of Iran, which have danger of ethnic separatism, and one of them is bordering Atropatene, it will directly affect and in terms of this Armenia by implementing restraint policy of Azerbaijan in the South Caucasus, in fact contributes to the stability of Iran in our region, at least in the issue of Atropatene.”
