Today in the morning at 10:20 local time an explosion has occurred in Sultanahmet district, a district of Istanbul popular with tourists. 10 people were killed and 15 people were injured as a result of the blast. This was informed live on “CnnTürk” by Selami Albayrak, Istanbul Provincial Health Director. The website of Turkish Milliyet newspaper, based on the information provided by the witnesses, notes that the blast occurred in the group of tourists touring around Sultanahmet district, close to the Blue Mosque. The police forces blocked the area, the traffic was stopped. According to some information, there is possibility of second blast. That’s why bomb disposal specialists are working on the scene. According to the preliminary information the explosion was carried out by a suicide bomber, but this information hasn’t been confirmed. It has been informed that according to the order of Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus Turkish Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) has temporarily banned the publication of news about the blast. ermenihaber.am
