The Russian Defense Ministry today announced that Russia has reinforced its military base in Armenia with attack and transport helicopters. Six modern attack Mi-24P and transport Mi-8MT helicopters from the Army’s aviation have been delivered to the Armenian military base [in Erebuni] from a military airbase in the Krasnodar region. Talking to A1+, political analyst Sergey Minasyan said Russia planned to do it long ago. “Russia planned to send 18 helicopters to Armenia still in 2013. I understand that many would try to account it for the Russian-Turkish conflict, but it is not so. It is pure coincidence,” the political analyst said.
