Aram Karapetyan: “It isn’t clear which political path Azerbaijan will adopt” (video)
Chairman of “New times” party Aram Karapetyan thinks that the interest of the USA in the South Caucasus has increased. He has expressed such an opinion today at the meeting with the journalists by touching upon the offers by the U.S. Congressmen to ease tension and aggression at the Contact Line between Karabakh and Azerbaijan. “Recently Americans have been very active in our region. Their viewpoints on the South Caucasus will be transformed. It is clear that sanctions may be used against the leadership of Azerbaijan. The USA clearly displays its interest in the South Caucasus. We must accept that in terms of that comprehensive decisions are offered, which is a project to remove the snipers, control the border with technical means and increase the number of the OSCE observers. To note, the other parties have offered no practical decision apart from calls. In reply to the question, how the offer of the U.S. Congressmen will be accepted by Armenian and Azerbaijan, Aram Karapetyan said: “The Armenian side will only welcome it, as it is one of the ways to maintain status quo. At first Azerbaijan rejected, but, on the other hand, in terms of sanctions, it isn’t clear which political path Azerbaijan will adopt.”
