Edmon Marukyan thinks they are dangerous for the authorities (video)
The founding conference of “Bright Armenia” ended without announcing whether it is in the opposition or pro-government field. “The fact that the party is an opposition is a rule of classic politics first of all. We have clearly announced that “Bright Armenia” is an oppositional political union and shares neither the external nor the internal policy of the current authorities,” says Edmon Marukyan, independent lawmaker of the NA and the newly appointed chairman of the board of the party, during the briefing after the conference. It is known that the opposition parties in Armenia always lack financial capital, which are the resources of “Bright Armenia”? “The initiative has operated for 6 months, all the financial investments have been made by the initiative group.” Does “Bright Armenia” consider the results of December 6 referendum to be legitimate? Edmon Marukyan answers: “We have answered the question connected with the legitimacy for many times, the political system in Armenia has been in a closed cycle for 25 years and the legitimacy is always spoken about. They say that no body is legitimate, the opposition powers of the parliament aren’t legitimate too. But our approach connected with the referendum is as follows: we aren’t surprised, we are surprised that the people are surprised. There was large-scale vote-rigging and there were multiple reports on them.” There is a viewpoint that “Bright Armenia” is funded by the authorities, in particular, by Mikael Minasyan, son-in-law of Serzh Sargsyan. The goal is as follows: to have controllable and soft opposition, which won’t be a danger for the government and will keep the people away from the street struggle, at the same time to give him a place in the National Assembly of 2017. At first Edmon Marukyan announced that they will refrain from commenting on such statements, but as it has been the first conference of the party, he will speak: “There are such rumors about all the newly created parties. The political powers, which are trying to disseminate such news, they understand that the new political powers must cut off their daily bread in the opposition field. Those powers are more coordinated, more institutional and are based on values.” He also replies to the assessments on being “a soft opposition power” in the future, “In the Republic of Armenia during 25 years street struggle has given nothing. It only separated the society, instilled hatred into each other and finally it ended in migration. At present, if someone thinks that street struggle is effective, let him continue struggling in that way.” He thinks that the most dangerous political powers for the authorities are the political powers like “Bright Armenia”.
