A supporter of New Armenia Movement detained on Tuesday evening
One of the supporters of the New Armenia Public Salvation Front was detained on Tuesday evening without any explanations, New Armenia’s Joint Opposition Headquarters reported shortly after detention. “Some time ago, a great number of police officers cordoned off Varuzhan Avetisyan, Armen Mikaelyan and Gagik Yeghiazaryan who were strolling along Mashtots Avenue. The latter was taken to a police station without any explanation. Yeghiazaryan is a supporter of New Armenia and a member of the “Rise Up, Armenia” civil movement. We demand that the police present the grounds for Yeghiazaryan’s detention and immediately set him free,” the joint headquarters said in a statement.
