The number of violations and irregularities observed in the Sunday constitutional referendum in Armenia totals 500 000, opposition lawmaker Levon Zurabyan told media at a late night press conference. He said at the previous referendums voter turnout stood at 1 200 000 and 1 500 000. Officially, 300 000 people are said to have left the country during the years of Serzh Sargsyan’s presidency. “They [authorities] have falsified demographic data and the real population figures but even so, it is clear that large-scale voter fraud has taken place,” Zurabyan said adding that “No” has won already irrespective of the preliminary information provided by the country’s Central Electoral Commission. “The authorities are applying a pathetic propaganda, old tricks and methods. They announce the results received from polling stations which worked for them, where 80000 people allegedly said “Yes” and 20 000 – “No,” said the lawmaker. Levon Zurabyan added that this has one aim – to encourage election riggers so that they will not understand their crushing defeat in Armenia.”
