Stepan Demirtchyan: The regime that violates Constitution should be overthrown and and not entrusted with constitutional changes (video)
Addressing the ralliers at Liberty Square, Chairman of the People Party of Armenia (HZhK) Stepan Demirtchyan said they reject the constitutional amendments and they blame the deplorable situation in the country not on the imperfect Constitution, but on the frequent violations of the Constitution and on the usurpation of power by a group of people. Mr Demirchyan stressed that there is no demand and need for constitutional changes. “We find it unacceptable that all negative phenomena are blamed on the current Constitution. It was the government that drove the country to this situation and now the same government is amending the Constitution. The regime that violates the Constitution should be overthrown and not entrusted with the constitutional changes,” he said. “Armenia needs real changes and not hasty constitutional changes that stem from the interests of a group of people. But the real changes I am speaking about cannot be implemented by the regime that has provoked crisis in the country. “By saying “No” we are saying “No” to fakes and usurpation of power. Armenia needs honest and impartial authorities elected by people,” Mr Demirtchyan said in conclusion.
