National Assembly passes Tevon Poghosyan's bill
With a vote 97 to 3, the National Assembly passed the first reading of a bill proposed by Heritage Party Lawmaker Tevan Poghosyan. The bill foresees amendments to the RA Law on the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly. Republican lawmaker Hovhannes Sahakyan said they would vote for the bill and present their recommendations during the second reading. The legislature continued to discuss the draft budget for 2016. In her speech, Lyudmila Sargsyan, a lawmaker representing the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) in the Armenian parliament, said she had got contradictory impressions from the budget. “Although the budget is said to have a social orientation, it does not foresee an increase in salaries and pensions. It is only aimed at preserving the current situation,” she stressed. She added that next year’s budget had been curtailed by $18 mln. “This is a belt-tightening budget which signals that hard times lie ahead,” she said. During her speech, the MP frequently called her colleagues to order as they were talking loudly to each other.
