Members of the “New Armenia” Public Salvation Front, which is campaigning against the pending constitutional amendments, today held an awareness march in Yerevan urging citizens to participate in the rally scheduled for Dec. 1. “Let us joint efforts and unseat the criminal regime, throwing them out of the country with their constitutional amendments. The power in Armenia belongs to people but it is usurped by thick-necked oligarchs,: Gevorg Safaryan, a member of the movement, announced over megaphone. A number of political figures and forces have joined the Front in an attempt to thwart the constitutional changes initiated by Serzh Sargsyan. Varujan Avetisyan, another member of the Public Salvation Front says people do not attend rallies and marches because they are waiting for concrete actions. “It is possible that the authorities step down not on December 6, but a few days later. It is important to express the will of people and take consistent actions making them [authorities] obey the will of people,” he stressed. On December 1, the Public Salvation Front is expected to demand power change by civil disobedience.
