Gazprom is conducting talks with Iran (video)
Russia’s energy giant Gazprom is conducting talks with Iran about potential investments in Iran’s natural gas sector on condition that sanctions on Iran are lifted. Sevak Sarukhanyan, an expert in Iranian studies, says the cooperation is possible. At the same time he points to a number of existing difficulties. “The difficulties can be blamed to the economic situation in Russia, as well as the shortage of funds for making investments in the Russian energy sector and Iranian economy. The second important factor is the Iranian legislature which severely limits the presence of foreign capital in oil and gas sectors in Iran which is considered public property in the country,” he said.
