Before the crash of the Russian charter plane I predicted a terrorist act against Russia. Now my predictions seem to be coming true, Director of the Yerevan-based Modus Vivendi Center Ara Papian said on November 4. He does not rule out that the strained relations between the West and Russia may affect Armenia as well and warns of the possible negative consequences for Armenia. “Today Armenia is perceived as an appendage of Russia and may become a target,” he said. The historian says in the Syrian issue Russia will be forced to choose between bad and worse. On the other hand, he says Russia will have success in the Syrian conflict though it will not last long. Mr Papian says today the Russian Empire is in agony. “Russia is trying to assume the role of the Soviet Union, but he does not have the opportunity,” he said.
