Number of hunger strikers increasing in Vardashen prison
26-year-old Rafayel Mkrtchyan, who was sentenced to 7 years’ imprisonment, has started hunger strike in Vardashen prison. Before starting hunger strike he called the editorial office and informed that he complains of the activities of independent commission. “They are refusing the applications for release on parole without any justification, they have already refused for 7-8 times. In 2010 I was sentenced to 7 years in prison without any proofs, they are again refusing, one year is left until the end of my imprisonment,” the prisoner told “A1+”. The prisoner informed that there are many people in the prison, who want to start a hunger strike. To remind, yesterday reserve colonel Volodya Avetisyan and Paylak Khanamiryan started hunger-strike in Vardashen prison. They are also complaining of the activities of the independent commission by noting that the refusals of their applications for release on parole are baseless.
