Arpine Hovhannisyan on revision of lifers' cases (video)
Armen Avetisyan, a lawmaker representing the Prosperous Armenia Party (HAK) in the Armenian parliament, today asked Justice Minister Arpine Hovhannisyan about life-termers. “Don’t you think that their cases need to be reviewed? What measures are being taken to improve their conditions in prison?” Armen Avetisyan said in his speech. “This is one of the most sensitive issues in our society. We know that many of them have been sent to life imprisonment for committing grave crimes. As the Minister of Justice, I think it is wrong to assess the revision of their cases as it should be decided by courts,” Arpine Hovhannisyan said in reply. She added that steps are being taken to improve conditions in prisons.
