Today at the NA during the discussion of the HRD 2014 report, Head of the Rule of Law Party (the OEK) Heghine Bisharyan assessed very negatively the criticism addressed to the Ombudsman. She noted that the Minister of Healthcare and the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs had better be present at the NA session, as the Ombudsman had found out violations in their systems, “And we would have an opportunity to ask them how they had worked that the Ombudsman found out so much in their system. Are we criticizing the Ombudsman for the disclosures and asking why he found those violations, who are you? I am surprised: the Minister, who was speaking about the higher educational qualifications, today made a speech with street vernacular, yet before his speech the Vice Speaker urged not to turn the NA into a street.” Mrs. Bisharyan noted that the NA had chosen Karen Andreasyan as an Ombudsman, “He has been presenting reports for more than 10 years, yet there are many people here, who don’t know how long he has been an Ombudsman. If the drawbacks mentioned in the report are repeated, it means that the representatives of the system never receive remarks. Why are you criticizing the Ombudsman in this way? We understand who brought grist to another’s mill. Let’s have a sound discussion.” “Please, don’t make assumptions: everyone has his own opinion,” reacted the NA Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov. The BHK MP Mikayel Melkumyan posed a rhetorical question: what will be in our country, if we don’t have the institution of Ombudsman, “I think nothing will happen: it will be the same as years ago.”
