The criminal case instituted on charges of hooliganism in connection with clashes between riot police and citizens protesting against electricity tariff increase in Yerevan's Baghramyan Avenue has been reopened. The supervising prosecutor has annulled the investigator’s decision to dismiss the case and ordered to continue the ppreliminary investigation. The supervising prosecutor said that the requirements for a fair trial had not been honoured. In the early hours of June 23, police deployed water cannons, eventually detaining 237 participants of the standoff. They were immediately charged with hooliganism. However, the case was discontinued as the Investigative Committee did not see any crime in the actions of demonstrators.
