All the Armenian monuments to be kept in 5.5 kg book
“Cultural passport of Armenia” encyclopedia has been published after 35 years of work. Samvel and Artem Hakobyan are the authors of the encyclopedia. It includes all the Armenian settlements and monuments, assures the author Samvel Hakobyan, “I have been making this book since 1981, it is wholly authorial work. We toured in Armenia and photographed every corner. The settlements, which have already vanished, are also included in the encyclopedia, but we have restored their pictures and presented in the encyclopedia.” Mr. Hakobyan is sure that after decades this book can be the document, which will prove the existence of Armenians in this region, “Is there any other document in the world, which can prove that the people lived there, except the monuments? There isn’t. For example, today in the Middle East they are being destroyed, after some years it will be difficult to prove who lived there,” he said and added, that they photographed all the monuments together with the surroundings so that after centuries, if the monument disappears, the site can be easily found. Besides the settlements and the monuments, all the museums, factories, which have historical importance for our country, have been included in the book. There are more than 10.000 photos in the encyclopedia, more than 20.000 monuments are presented, “At first, the book weighed 10 kg, then we compacted it and it became 5.5 kg, so that it will be more practical.” By the way, in the future the authors are planning to publish two more volumes, one of which will be about Artsakh and another about the Western Armenia.
