Early elections were held in the communities of Salut (Shirak marz) and Khashtarak (Tavush marz) on September 20. Forty of the 67 eligible voters went to the polls in Salut village, with 36 casting their votes for the only Republican candidate Minas Khachatryan. The other four voted against him. A total of 748 voters out of the 1468 voters participated in the Sunday election in Khashtarak. 725 voted for the only Republican candidate Andranik Vitrabyan. The former head of Khashtarak, Hayk Kamalyan, had to resign office because of health problems after heading the village for seven years
