37 trees dried up at Sundukyan 90 (video)
The small green area in the yard of Sundukyan 90 building reminds an oasis, as everything is dry and neglected around. Trees and bushes of once a lush park are drying up one after another. The garden has lacked irrigation water for already a year. The single green area has been preserved due to grandfather Norayr. Still a year ago each resident watered and took care of his area. Last year according to the decision of the Municipality the park became a public area and was neglected. “In a year 37 trees have dried up, if we cut down a tree, we will be fined 250.000 drams, and now who is responsible for it?” says resident Norik Khachatryan. The residents of Sundukyan 90 building think that by drying up the park artificially the area will be used for another purpose, “They dry up intentionally so that they can build something or sell the land.” Yerevan Municipality assured that there is no plan to construct a building in that territory. Only construction work of the park is being carried out. As to the water supply, according to the Municipality, the water pressure is weak in the territory but regularly measures are taken for irrigating the area. According to the residents, those measures do not give any results. They regret to say that if the problem isn’t solved, next year there will be not a single green leaf in the park.
