Why air tickets are so expensive in the RA (video)
One after another airlines are terminating the flights from Yerevan without presenting clear reasons, “Armenia is in vassal condition and the whole market has been given to Russia, it is one of the reasons”, thinks former Head of the Civil Aviation Shahen Petrosyan. There is already a tendency that the RA citizens prefer to depart from Tbilisi airport by buying significantly cheaper tickets. In case of continuing such a policy, the experts are sure that the number of passengers will decrease. But they note that there is still a chance to change the situation, of course if competitive environment is created. According to the research of USAID “Zvartnots” is one of the most expensive airports among more than 20 airports surveyed. Yet the press service of “Zvartnots” international airport assures that their prices are competitive and comparable to other airports in the region.
