Parliament Speaker: Should we hear such warm speeches every time, all loans will become grants
The National Assembly discussed in its Monday special sitting the loan agreement on “Social Investment and Local Development Project” signed between Armenia and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) On April 8, 2015. Referring to her colleagues’ speeches who said Armenia did not need the loan, Republican Party lawmaker Margarit Yesayan said, “I barely restrained myself from not quoting Shakespeare, but let me speak about the main topic. As I have said I do not understand much from figures but I would like to define the term loan more accurately: it does not only mean borrowing money, but it also implies the reputation of the political force in question.” She says international organizations consider the Republic of Armenia a reliable country which is on the path of development and strives to overcome poverty, therefore, the MP says ‘we have no reason for concern.’ Under the agreement, Armenia will receive a loan in the amount of $ 30 million. NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan did not seem to be impressed by Margarit Yesayan’s speech. “Should we hear such warm speeches every time, all loans will become grants,” Sahakyan said. Artur Arakelyan, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communication, spoke about the changes in the Law on Television and Radio and stressed that the transition from analog to digital broadcasting will last until January 16, 2016. “The extension is determined by the provision of digital signal receivers. As you know the state is providing vulnerable families with digital signal receivers. We have completed all work connected with digital signal system and today the digital signal along with the analog one is available in almost all marzes by 98.8 percent,” he said.
