Sit-in is going on: Activists cleaned Liberty Square
Sit-in strike against electricity price hike is going on at Liberty Square.
More than 20 people, who are taking part in the sit-in, took shelter from midday heat under umbrellas near the doors of Opera House. They had bottles of drinking water with them and there were also cleaning supplies.
Aram Manukyan, participant of sit-in strike, informed “A1+” that early in the morning they had cleaned the whole territory, had kept public order.
According to his words that night passed quietly, there weren’t any obstacles, there were policemen, who only observed public order, “About 240 people passed the night with us. We were observing in order to exclude provocations from both sides.” Aram Manukyan noted that many people approach the participants of sit-in strike by supporting morally, encouraging, bringing water, umbrellas and other necessary supplies.
He noted that at 19:00 meeting is planned and before that two awareness groups are touring in the city to inform about the sit-in strike, demands, as well as about the event on June 22- march to Baghramyan 26.
Rule of Law Party (OEK) deputies Ishkhan Khachatryan and Levon Dokholyan approached the participants of the sit-in strike. They expressed their dissatisfaction that they weren’t given an opportunity to make speeches during yesterday’s rally. They told “A1+” that there were people from their party who passed the night at Liberty Square.
