Manufacturers mustn’t make use of electricity price increase
Raising price in the same sphere for three times in two years is not acceptable, says Chairman of the Consumers Consulting Center Karen Chilingaryan when speaking about electricity price increase. Calculations show that during the last two years 100 % price increase has been recorded, “It is nonsense, there is nothing like that in any other country.” Mr. Chilingaryan compares Armenia and Georgia. Years ago electricity price was much lower in our country than in Georgia, what’s more we sold electricity to them, “During recent five years electricity price has decreased in their country. At present they pay 20 drams for up to 100 kW, 27 drams for 100-200 kW, and 37 drams for 300-400 kW. It means their highest price is lower than our price.” Asked by “A1+”, what price increases will follow electricity price increase and what will be the condition of the RA citizen getting minimum salary, Karen Chilingaryan answered, “There will be chain price increases, people’s condition will worsen, there is 40% unemployment in Armenia, what will those people do? How will they survive?” But Chairman of the Consumers Consulting Center thinks that in general the price increases of manufacturers aren’t grounded, “The more electricity price increases, the more prices of other products increase, but it isn’t right, the electricity spent is just some percent of that product’s price and not the whole. Price increase must be minor, but manufacturers make use of it,” he added.
