“We have memory which cannot be destroyed”: rally against Mayrapetyan (video)

For 8 years residents of Teyran 23, Teyran 25, Lalayants 37 buildings have fought not to be evicted from their apartments. The residents of the buildings, which were recognized eminent domain, are determined to fight against unlawfulness. Today they have held a protest rally by marching to the Government building and then to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork Marash, where the court hearing of one of the residents under a threat of eviction must have been held. Resident Vardan Geravetyan is sure that developer Samvel Mayrapetyan has taken illegal actions. “The developer is Samvel Mayrapetyan, who wants to evict the residents forcefully. He has illegally filed lawsuits against our residents: the point is the law on illegal eminent domain, according to which there must be an agreement between the developer and the government.” According to Geravetyan in this case there is such a law signed in October, 2012, according to which if the government doesn’t make a decision in three months, all the agreements are considered invalid. “The relevant decision by the government was made 9 months after October, 2012- in August, 2013 by violating the relevant law,” he says. To add, the court hearing was postponed and will be held on July 10. More in the video
