Thousands of Syrian Armenians who have fled to Armenia amid the ongoing war in Syria are facing problems in Armenia associated with housing and employment, says Ani Melkonian-Boyajian, Head of the Cilician Seminary in Aleppo. She says if she fails to find a job in Armenia she will return to Aleppo. Ani Melkonian-Boyajian says the Armenian community in Aleppo has been the most damaged community in Syria. She recalls how a bullet passed close to her last year when they were discussing with Armenian community members the issue of schooling.  Eventually, lessons were held in a local club, in the candlelight. “When shooting began, children went down to the cellar,” she says adding that Syrian Armenians are in much worse condition today as the families have spent all their savings.
