The pre-announced protest of individual taxi drivers in Gyumri has been postponed today. Taxi drivers are protesting against a government decision which binds them to pay a certain amount from their monthly income and place taximeters in their cabs. Taximeters cost 60-120000 drams, say cabmen. Seyran Martirosyan, Director of the Shirak regional branch of the A.D. Sakharov Armenian Human Rights Center, says by organizing a protest the taxi drivers only wanted their demands to be heard by the relevant authorities.
