With his move to start a hunger strike Liparit Petrosyan, a member of the Founding Parliament opposition movement who has been sentenced to five years in prison, wants to call the attention of political figures to political prisoners. “Liparit wants them to remember about the existence of political prisoners all the time,” Liparit’s brother Ashot Petrosyan said on May 15. Ashot met his brother today and says he was in good shape. Liparit Petrosyan started an indefinite hunger strike in prison on Thursday in protest of increasing persecution against members and supporters of the Founding Parliament and the Cassation Court’s decision to reject the appeal against unlawful actions against radical opposition Tseghakron party leader Shant Harutyunyan and his friends.
