Minister of Transport and Communication Gagik Beglaryan and Minister of Economy Karen Chshmarityan are not participating in the meeting despite the continuous complaints of MPs that ministers show disrespect for the legislature with their habitual absenteeism. The hearings are attended by Artur Arakelyan, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communication, and Garegik Melkonyan, Deputy Minister of Economy. Artak Zakaryan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, said the two ministers are currently on a business trip therefore they were unable to attend the hearings. Speaking about the project Mr Zakaryan stressed that it was of great importance given economic, financial, and investment aspects. “Around 750 million dollars have been invested under the project. The issue of 550 million dollar investment is now under consideration.” This road corridor worth of 962 million dollars and 556 kilometers will give a chance to improve the road connection between the 2 neighbors of Armenia – Iran and Georgia. The project will be completed in 2020. The project is administered by the Asian Development Bank, European Investment Bank and donor organizations from neighboring countries.
