Digitization of television broadcasting in Armenia has been postponed till January 2016, President of National Commission on Television and Radio (HRAH) Gagik Buniatyan said today at the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Affairs when presenting a report on HRAH’s activities in 2014. The process of broadcasting digitization was to be finalized on July 1, 2014.  In the fall, the Commission will hold discussions on the new package submitted by the government.  The postponement of the process was especially important for regional TV companies, as most of them will be closed down, with only one digital TV remaining in each marz. “There cannot be any monopoly here. Ten channels will be broadest in each marz, including one local and nine state broadcasting channels,” said Mr Buinatyan. HRAH will submit its 2014 program to the National Assembly during the upcoming plenary session.
