Years ago all the republics of the Soviet Union celebrated May 9, Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War. After the collapse of the USSR, the perception of the Victory Day has changed and depends on the relations of Russia and the particular country. The politicization of historic facts is not surprising. What’s more, everything has started from Russia. Russia’s propaganda has given its results and former Soviet states don’t speak about the victory with first person singular, says Alexander Iskandaryan. According to historiographical data, during the Great Patriotic War the USSR lost 26.6 million population. 6.8 million of them were soldiery, 4.4 million people were captured and declared missing. The rest of the victims were peaceful civilians.
