Samsung expected to close down in Armenia
The representation of Samsung Electronics is expected to close in Armenia. Employees of Samsung Electronics stores in Yerevan are unaware of the rumours and hope they will not lose their work. A1+ has tried to contact Samsung representation in Armenia for two days to verify the information but to no avail. However, we were able to talk to their accountant, Lusine, who declined to comment on the rumours. Varazdat Margaryan, Director of Samsung Service Company, said they do not possess any official information on the ‘pending closure.’ “We continue to work according to the schedule. The equipment is regularly updated and renewed. But there has been a reduction in sales, like elsewhere in Armenia,” he said. A1+ Company has received a letter saying that Samsung Representation in Armenia shall be dissolved before May 29 according to a decision of Samsung Company. The letter says the Armenian Representation of the Company has been informed of the closure, the decision was taken by Samsung's regional headquarters in Azerbaijan on April 24 (the choice of the date was not accidental). Still in February, several officials of the Representation, including Mr Andranik Shahbazyan, Head of the Armenian representation of Samsung, were laid off. Shahbazyan reportedly expressed his disagreement with the Company’s decision to move Samsung's regional Center from Almaty to Baku and refused to execute the orders given by Baku.
