Former lawmaker unable to leave prison cell

The advocate of former Armenian lawmaker Hakob Hakobyan has been unable to see his client for a month. “He [Hakob Hakobyan] is unable to get off the cell, come to the visiting room or attend court hearings on the extension of his detention,” lawyer Karen Sardaryan told A1+. The lawyer says Hakobyan has serious health problems and needs urgent medical treatment. “However, so far there has been no response,” he said. Hakob Hakobyan was arrested in February 2015 and is charged with illegal entrepreneurial activities and tax evasion. Heis complaining of high blood pressure and has acute pains in the abdomen.
