Hrant Melkumyan needs victory
Today the penultimate 9th round of the International Chess Tournament will be held in the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik. It is very important round for the chess players competing for awards, especially for Armenian GM Hrant Melkumyan. The reason is that today our GM will face the leader of the tournament Erwin L'Ami, who has one point more. Only in case of victory Hrant Melkumyan will continue fighting for awards. Our another chess player Sergey Movsisyan has scored 6 points and is behind the eight chess players, which reduces his chances to win a medal during Swiss-system tournament. To add, that the chess players, who will win the first 10 places, will receive prize money. The first place will get 5000 euros, the second place- 2000 euros and the third place- 1250 euros.
