Vardan Devrikyan, a deputy director of the National Academy's Institute of Literature, is against the changes of the coat of arms and the anthem. He thinks that it is connected with additional expenses. “If we change them, we would rather build a few buildings,” today Vardan Devrikyan told the journalists. Monumentologist Samvel Karapetyan thinks that the appearance of the coat of arms has been much  distorted and it must be changed. He says that the symbol isn’t accidental and shows the past and present of the nation. “They say that the mouth of the lion depicted on the coat of arms is closed, if by opening the lion’s mouth our lifestyle will change, let’s open it,” he says. According to the words of the monumentologist, Ararat’s image must be clearly reflected on the coat of arms. Samvel Karapetyan says that Ararat is miserable and humiliated.
