National Symbols: Lion's mouth will be open in new emblem (video)
Armenia’s national emblem does not comply with the corresponding laws, says Gagik Minasyan, a member of an expert committee set up for changing the national anthem and coat of arms. “The coat of arms is the nation's passport, while our coat of arms has a number of shortcomings. The lion’s mouth should be open because it symbolized the nation’s courage. The sword is broken and enchained. Also, there is not a slogan on the ribbon,” he said. Chairman of Artists' Union of Armenia Karen Aghamyan , who is also a member of the committee, said the committee will continue its work until the end of the year. “We are not going to change the colours, but the lion’s mouth will be open It will not look sick and poor as it is now. The eagle's mouth will also be open. We shall also free the sword from chains,” he said.
