Can Ukraine conflict grow into war? (video)
If the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is not resolved, it could grow into a global conflict, say political analysts in Armenia. Political analyst Yervand Bozoyan says if the situation in Ukraine gets out of control, a total war caused by Ukrainian conflict will become unacceptable. Political analyst Levon Shirinyan says Ukraine is to accept certain rules of the game for the sake of global peace. “I have already said that it would be better for Ukraine to accept the the idea of federalizing the country, but in this question Ukrainians and Georgians hold the same opinion and will not agree to federalization.” The presidents of Russia and France and German Chancellor met a few days ago to discuss the situation in Ukraine. However, the leaders were unable to reach a unanimous decision after a five-hour meeting. Political scientists in Armenia believe that Russia and Europe are now trying to do everything possible to resolve the conflict in a peaceful way. “Both Russia and Europe are suffering great loses because of the conflict. Russia is under the burden of sanctions which are also affecting the European Union,” they say. Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel even travelled to Washington to discuss the issue with President Barack Obama. During the meeting, Obama said Russia is not fulfilling the provisions of the Minsk Agreement. The US President did not rule out that Russia might continue to arm Pro-Russian rebels in eastern Ukraine. Mr Bozoyan reminds that presidential elections will be held in the USA in 2016 and now Obama's rating is low. “Today Obama is trying to increase his reputation by pressurizing Russia,” he said.
