"Violence against children is common in the capital" (video)
In March-July, 2014, 780 people, including 711 pupils from 9th to 12th grade of educational institutions took part in “Violence against children in the Republic of Armenia” research polls. It was carried out in Yerevan and a number of regions by research and analytical team of “Media-Model” company. Maria Shatvoryan, coordinator of the project “Defense of children against violence through knowledge building and best experience”, highlights: “The aim of the research was to reveal the acts of violence and risks of cybercrimes against children at the age of 13-18 in the RA.” According to her words, the physical violence against the children used by teachers is common in the capital and especially at state schools than at private schools. The speaker also notes that especially boys are under the risk of cybercrimes, who, according to the results of the research, spend more time on the Internet. She thinks that the risk group is big especially in Yerevan, then in the northern regions. “In general 67% of the respondents said that they would speak about it and 33% said that they would hide such incidents,”- said Maria Shatvoryan.
