Bako Sahakyan would not have ordered the beating - political analyst (video)
The authorities conducted training before the next elections to show people their power, political analyst Gurgen Yeghiazaryan said on February 4 commenting the weekend events in Karabakh.
While Mr Yeghiazaryan confesses that he does not accept Zhirayr Sefilyan’s ideas, he condemns the incident and violence against the freedom fighters.
“How could they raise arms on a person who left his soft cushion at the age of 23 and come to protect Karabakh? You can hate someone, disapprove his ideology, but you have no right to raise your hand to kids. This is insolence,” he said.
The political analyst is convinced that the perpetrators will not be punished. “[Karabakh President] Bako Sahakyan is one of the few people in our political domain who has not been discredited. He would not have ordered the beating, the incident disgraced him,” Mr Yeghiazaryan said.
On January 31, members of the Founding Parliament, a radical opposition initiative seeking a regime change in Armenia, tried to enter Karabakh in order to carry out a protest demonstration there. Near Berdzor, they were stopped by local police who forcefully blocked access to the territory of Karabakh. Some of the participants, including Zhirayr Sefilyan, a former commander of the Shushi special detachment, political analyst Igor Muradyan and other freedom fighters were beaten. There were also women and children in the cars.
